On June 11, 2016, Filipinos from the academe, media, government, private and nonprofit sector including alumni of prestigious Chinese universities who in the course of their education, training, career, business and work have nurtured lifelong interest and connections with China gathered to celebrate fellowship. This took place in conjunction with the celebrations of the 41st anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China.

The husband is a conservationist having spend thirty years of his life working to save the PH native turtles called the pawikan from near extinction. He shares his story to guests in their mountain house overlooking the ocean he and his wife had constructed. He is also the scuba-diving instructor. The wife is a cooking aficionado and surprises her guests with her daily creations!

Reading Zhuangzi, a not so well-known ancient Chinese philosopher who lived around 370 BC. Among his many insights: "everybody studies the value of being useful. But nobody studies the value of being useless!"
