You asked: “Why rush?”
I know we have differences.
There are moments
when you and I are complete opposites.
Just like the sun and the moon.
But let’s imagine we remove all of these:
The age gap
The parental trap
And my occasional mental flap.
Like the sun and the moon
The moment when the sun meets night
The moment when the moon meets morning
Miracles that most people don’t see or refuse to.
You taught me how to see those moments.
You complement me, you supplement me.
Most importantly, you’re the star
That gives light to the lone moon.
I know each orbit makes an identity
Don’t change. I’ve realized it is
what makes me love you more.
Every crossing, is something I cherish every time, evermore.
I can understand that my proposal can seem rush. And talking to your mom on my own can seem only to confirm that.
For me, the question of “why” is answered by “why not”. If marriage is needed to help people, our relatives, appreciate the sunset and sunrise that our union creates, to help the star shine more brightly, then “why not”.
At the same time, I realized I don’t need others to appreciate the magic we create, as long as you and I know that nobody can create those miracles except us.
Marriage for me is not the end, but the beginning of something more powerful, when the moon and the sun become one with its universe.
But for now, as long as the sun and the moon continue to know themselves and love each other, those moments of crossing just becomes more magical each day.
You are the Star and on this special day, growing ever brighter.
and it gets more beautiful from here. For the sun and the moon.
Happy Birthday Renee Janine Lo.
I love you.
